Dental Implants Salem, OR
Dental Implants are one choice that is available for one or multiple teeth replacement. Implants can be used as either an alternative or in congruence with bridges and dentures. Dental implants are a device that is surgically implanted through your gum tissue into the jawbone. It looks similar to a screw and is made of titamium, which is a biocompatible material. After a period of time, Dr. King will be able to place a permanent dental crown onto the implant, giving you the look and feel of your natural tooth. This can also be done to secure a dental bridge or denture to, providing much more comfort to you. Ask us at King Dental if you are a candidate for dental implant tooth replacement. Implants are a wonderful dental innovation and we are excited to share information about them with you.
How does a Dental Implant work?
You dental implant will serve as the base providing the strength, or root, of your new artificial tooth. Dr. King surgically places your new root, the titanium implant, directly into your jawbone.Titanium is a metal that is biocompatible to you, meaning that it is not harmful to living tissue and is frequently used in surgical procedures. Over time your tissue and bone will grow around this device, this is a process called osseointegration. As the device naturally sets into place, it will provide you a strong structural connection between the dental implant and your living bone, giving you an equal, if not stronger, base for your tooth. This procedure can be done with a single tooth, multiple teeth, or we can even replace an entire arch of teeth using four implants. This is an astounding work, you can come into our office with no healthy teeth and leave with a full arch of teeth that can not decay and will not come out. We like to brag that with time, you can even eat corn on the cob. Though it will take about six months for the implant to be solidly in place, Dr. King will place a temporary cap onto the implant while it heals.
What happens after my post is secured?
After your post is secured, Dr. King will place your permanent fixed dental crown, which will be customized to fit you. You will now have a strong permanent tooth, as if it were never missing.
Dental implants are an impressive addition to dentistry. They have a high rate of success, higher than any other tooth replacement option. Dentistry has advanced considerably, and dental implants is one of those advancements. Studies have found a 98% success rate for dental implants, and the number of patients receiving them is growing rapidly.
